Introduction to a Music Lover
Hello everyone! My name is De'Ja and I was born and raised here in Fairbanks. However, I did move away for almost 10 years, but I'm happy to be back home. I am a mother to an amazing 4-year-old and very sassy 7-year-old Chihuahua. Other than music, I love to cook and bake, which both are very therapeutic for me.
I have loved music all my life. One of my earliest memories has to be when I was around 3 or 4 years old, and I would beg my mom to let me stay up on Thursday nights so I could watch Yo! MTV Raps. I almost ALWAYS fell asleep before then end of the episode, but I was always determined to watch it. From there I would listen to my mom's cassettes and CDs, more than she would, and started to explore different genres. Eventually I discovered my love for musicals, the violin, and handbells, which I participated in while in school. I also have a slight obsession with concerts. My first concert was Destiny's Child when they performed at UAF Patty Center, and I was hooked from there. A few other artists I've seen live are Fall out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Chris Brown, Musiq Soulchild, and quite a few more.
Since I can never pick just ONE song to share with people, here is a little mashup that my Millennial heart couldn't pass up.
My son has recently shown the same interests in music, and I cannot wait to go on this journey with him while he explores different genres and instruments.

ReplyDeleteI loved the wrap-up of songs from 2000's. That was fun! Best thing you can do for your song - get him involved in a Suzuki program for violin, cello or piano. The discipline and focus that it teaches with parent involvement helps create amazing humans.
